Guys in Uniform revisited - 1. Double Discipline (Draft, WIP)

 Article in preparation

This series of articles aims to update and extend my original survey of the work of 'Guys in Uniform'

Guys in Uniform Studio* set up in the late 1970s producing sexy pictures with a strong flavour of military discipline. It was much inspired by the example set by Royale Studio, and the personnel involved reputedly had connections of some sort with Clavering's set-up.

The pictures pushed at the boundaries of acceptability for their respective times, and the men in them included genuine servicemen. Both of these facets shocked the establishment and provoked police raids and prosecutions, which eventually caused them to collapse. There's an interesting article at milism about their history and the connections between the two studios.

* This Studio has suffered from being called 'Men in Uniform' in some quarters, but it always used the 'Guys in Uniform' label in its short existence, see this example of their advertising, from the 'Come and Get it!' post

1 Ready for Punishment

These images come from a 'Guys in Uniform' set which I have called 'Double Discipline'. It is probably the best known example of their work - with good reason! The situation of two men in PT kit, up for punishment with a cane, is very memorable. You are immediately struck by the tight and very brief, white shorts, which visually are an advance on the efforts of Royale Studio, albeit having drifted in the direction of flimsiness which was not a fabric option for Royale.

Royale's black and white images were also bedevilled by white-out of skin and shorts tones, but the colours available 20 years later solved that problem, although the bending figure on the left is a near miss. The pants are lit to show off the target areas very well, and the glimpse of bulges between the legs is amazing. The hems of their shorts show off chunky thighs, while the ankle socks with blue hoops (also classic sports wear in their day) reveal solid calves - these men are fit!

This series doesn't have a discernible story, but there's a franker image that fits here (at X). It piles more pressure on the 'offenders'.

2 Waiting his turn

They way these men are dressed is intended to reflect a military setting where discipline would indeed be administered in gym kit, underwear would be entirely inappropriate. In picture 2 punishment is in progress, but my eye is drawn to the man facing the wall, he has a beautiful figure and an upright posture (a cross between at attention and at ease) that is manly. It creates a visual effect that is a treat for neck freaks like me (again, a white-out near miss). The chunky, bare backside is a departure from military standards, but well worth it .

The man wielding the cane is less convincing, his shorts are not really shorts at all and his face and hair don't conjure up the look of a military disciplinarian.
