James Seely bags John in the shower

In the previous installment of the James Seely saga, we saw him studiously ignoring John Manning's lustful looks in a dual posing session. This is what happened afterwards, sort of, in the shower. It provides two more examples of Seely's amazingly wide range of facial expressions.

Back in the bad old days, solo shower scenes were a standard part of the physique photo offering. They offered a thrilling glimpse into the private and intimate cleansing rituals of the studio's male pin-ups. Provided they were photographed with discretion, they also allowed publishers to gush about the cleanliness of their models and the healthy nature of sport of body-building which provided muscular models and a sheen of respectability for their subversive skin-pix. 

Sportsmen routinely showered together in real life of course (and sometimes workers did too if they had dirty jobs like miners). Nevertheless, squeezing two naked men into a tiny cubicle intended for one was not regarded as at all normal......

Bob Mizer concocts an excuse for James Seely to get into the shower with John Manning after their exertions in front of the camera, it's in order to help him wash that tiny area between the shoulder blades that most of us cannot reach ourselves (just ask Siegfried!). Just in case you might suspect that there's something else going on here, James' arms (but nothing else) are smothered in nice, clean, soap suds. A teasing, bubbly trickle runs down over Manning's buttock.

John's serious face is probably meant to suggest he's giving directions to his helper, like someone having an itch scratched. But there's an element of distaste his look as though Seely's arrival is unexpected and unwelcome. I suppose this might be a deliberate, mocking attempt by Mizer to cast Manning as a straight man in a sudden onset of homosexual panic (see Holzman 'Merchant Navy').

Seely's cheerful grin looks nervous and mischievous as though he's planning a surprise. Darker sceptics amongst you might wonder (perhaps like John) whether his clenched right hand is actually holding any soap and even if it is, what is he thinking of doing with it next?

Seely's plan (whatever it was) has turned into a disaster it seems. (Apart from my frivolous, sex-obsessed inventions, he may have treated Manning as gay man when he isn't or as being receptive when isn't!). . Manning looks both shocked and very fearful. He melodramatically raises a defensive, clenched fist. His fist is about shock, anger and latent aggression, not fetish sex, sorry!

I'm not sure there's an English  word for Seely's expression here but it's absolutely priceless. It's the combination of realising he's blundered, profound embarrassment at it and rising panic that he doesn't know how to get out of it. It looks as if he's about to close the shower door so that their mutual embarrassment is no longer on public display, but blockading the two of them inside together doesn't seem like a very good solution in the circumstances (particularly if my interpretation is right!). 

In the midst of this furore, both men desperately try to hold their modesty flannels in place*

*The device of models draping a wet flannel over their private parts was intended to make these images decent in the eyes of the authorities. It would be surprising if it worked. because although you can't see any naughty bits (apart from a cunning glimpse of Seely's crotch hair that looks very sexy indeed), the sheer artifice and flimsiness of the arrangement draws attention to the fact that these two men are naked together in this confined space and could drop their guard at any minute and initiate an indecent, homosexual coupling. Indeed they might well have done so and publishing this picture is telling other deviants that they got away with it. Later, Champion Studio, who also used shower scenes, converted the dangling flannel into a posing pouch which was either brilliant satire or a particularly weird example of lateral thinking.

James Seely and Dave Hodge (AMG)

James Seely didn't only pose for Kris, he was also photographed by AMG using the name John Selig. This is from a duo session with Dave Hodge with both men fully naked at this point. James face is as expressive as ever. He looks here like the rookie learning some uncomfortable facts of life from a pro. It looks like a genuine reaction to something Hodge has said in a casual conversation, rather than being staged.

A similar spontaneity can be seen in this unusual image, seemingly taken between formal poses. This series does not simmer with the same sexuality as the Kris set but seems a more relaxed affair with a naïve-looking James being here put at ease (or being chatted up) by his studio partner in a charming, unguarded moment, deftly caught by Bob Mizer.

It wouldn't be AMG without a wrestling scene. James hams it up for the camera here but his body does genuinely convey a sense of great, dominating strength. His military tattoo adds a bit of extra edge. His partner's passive reaction is disappointing and tells us he is not really applying painful leverage, but it's still a great image.

Seely projects assertiveness more subtly in this photo from a 'biker' sequence (also with Dave Hodge). This set up is a trademark AMG image, much repeated with other biker duos. Some models carry it off better than others but this image certainly showcases Seely's built physique, contrasting it with Hodge's who appears to be the bigger man in the previous pictures. 

The scrunched-up sliver of pouch fabric emerging from between Seely's cute cheeks is a sexy detail, but more than a little incongruous.

James also posed with AMG's well-established physique star, John Manning. Here they seem like jungle playmates, just out of the pool with wet pouches in evidence and suddenly surprised by an unseen threat (white hunters, I hope, but they are actually posed as if a body-building judge is lurking in the bushes).

Seely is dwarfed by this partner and there's a big difference in muscle definition between them (and pouch mass too if you're interested!). Nevertheless, James's natural looking physique comes across well, assisted by an alluring sheen of oil. Mizer has caught his face looking at it's boy-next-door best. 

Seely seems to be recoiling here, but Manning is confidently thrusting himself forward, almost as though armed with a javelin. His left hand hovers protectively just behind Seely's head as though seeking to make a connection.

In this photoset, the two men spend a lot of time not looking at each other directly, or rather, James spends a lot of time looking away wistfully to the side while John, who presumably is supposed to be doing the same, sneaks furtive (and dare I say lustful?) glances at his new playmate. In this photo you can sense he likes what he sees and is inching closer, trying to make contact.

This is a slightly bizarre way to compare physiques, with both men down on their knees.

However, it does show Seely's biceps to be more than a match for Manning's. 

John seems unimpressed, but intrigued by the infectious personality of the new boy.

Their forearms brush together.

Manning has actually settled his buttocks right down onto the mat, here, and is leaning back in a passively inviting position that creates an erotic display at his groin. Seely, less experienced and less relaxed enjoys the fun of participating and the illusion of being in charge, but he's matched with a man here who knows that sexual presence is more telling than bravado.

Seely's Marine Corps background seems to earn him ascendency in the wrestling.

As with Hodges he puts plenty of effort into making it look convincing, 

but, like Hodges, Manning looks like his mind is on something entirely different.

When the men are told to take off their pouches, the atmosphere changes

The full majesty of Manning's physique is revealed.

 

Propriety is satisfied by maintaining formal body-building poses, distanced apart.

but arm flexing leaves no place for modesty and it's only natural to be curious.

John seems to be openly eying up his partner's 'form'.

James suddenly looks like a rabbit caught in car headlights.

A curious object has appeared at James' feet in this sequence, 

an invaluable continuity aid, but what is it?

As they inch closer together, Seely's confidence seems to drain away.

We get a great view of Manning's sweeping back 

but James, who has a glorious back himself, seems to shrink.

The joker has met his match.

The Look of Disappointment

 

Well you never know what it's going to taste like until you try!

This is a sort of sequel to Look No 31 at mitchmen 

It's a good lesson for the inexperienced,

finding out that you can't always believe what strange men say.

He'll soon learn that the taste is not the point.

The Look Of Momentous Indecision

 The look that says, "I've wanted to meet someone like him for so long, 

but now I've got the chance,  I'm too frightened to take it".

Much is written about the challenge of 'coming out', declaring one's sexuality to family and friends. But the moment when a man first decides to act on his attraction to other men is equally fraught and arguably much more important.  In the bad old days the subject of homosexuality was so taboo that it was very hard for a young man to find out or understand what 'going with' other men involved. Only that it was a practice despised by everyone else. Homosexuals were always portrayed as effeminate and camp or else as dirty men in raincoats who frequented smelly, public toilets. Most gay teens didn't (and still don't) see themselves like that. They want to explore sex with a man who is attractive, manly and considerate. Few are as lucky as this, but however the opportunity comes your way, the first time is a scary step into the complete unknown.

The Look of Dawning Reality - Tommy loses at poker

 The evening had all started so amicably.....

...... the guys he met in the hotel bar seemed ever so nice.

Or so it seemed on the surface ......

They suggested carrying on drinking in their room after the bar had closed

...with a nice game of cards for amusement.

Unfortunately Tommy hadn't played poker before.....

 

The alcohol inside him didn't make it any easier.

Tommy was soon losing everything.......

And then suddenly the other guys weren't quite so friendly any more......

 

And so the evening took an unexpected turn........

 

Well it did as far as Tommy was concerned anyway.

I suspect the other two guys had expected something of this sort.

Beautifully Bound - The Look of Betrayal

All the boys in the gang borrowed money from their leader Nico. They were under no illusions about how nasty he could be if it wasn't paid back on time, but it was common knowledge that he would usually accept payment 'in kind'. The sexual kind. With kinks. That didn't faze the boys, they were tough and streetwise and took rough treatment in their stride. Nico might be a harsh master but he looked after them, he protected them from the police and rival gangs.

So when Lucio went to pay his debts, empty handed as usual, he submitted without complaint to the ritual humiliation of being taken into Nico's damp cellar, stripped of all his clothes (another fine jacket ruined but you didn't come to these appointments dressed in rags) and then tied up with rope. He knew that what would follow wouldn't be pleasant and he would probably be out of action for a few days, nursing bruises and violated orifices, but he would be able to stop worrying about the money he owed. It was a large sum this time, well into four figures, the most he'd ever owed. Nico was angrier than he'd ever seen him before and it had been a huge relief when he had started unbuttoning Lucio's shirt, sliding a hand inside and nuzzling his neck, gently chiding him for his weakness for gambling. "What am I to do with you, Lucio?" he said (like he always did) and Lucio hung his head in shame (like he always did) and submitted to his usual fate.

The punishment would be harsher than usual, he knew that and he wasn't disappointed. In his anxiety to get it over with, he didn't notice that this time Nico used methods that left few marks, nor that the refrain of "What am I to do with you, Lucio?" continued well into the session which was one far longer, far more varied and humiliating than he had ever suffered before.

Lucio bore it all like the tough guy he was, but his stoicism was sorely tested when Nico took him upstairs and drew him into his bed for the sexual denouement. Sex was expected, yes, but chained to a wall or tied over as bench, not in the soft sheets and opulent surroundings of Nico's inner sanctum. That had never happened before to him, nor anyone else in the gang, to his knowledge - though which of them would want to admit to it, even if it had? Nico's gentleness evolved into  animal passion between the crisp white sheets. He  devoured Lucio's helplessly bound body and that was much more testing than the manly appreciation he normally bestowed on them as he delivered his seed at the conclusion of their punishment. Lucio had never doubted Nico's love for him but it wasn't supposed to be like this and when Nico, finally sated, drifted off to sleep, Lucio lay awake for hours, fidgeting in the uncomfortable restraints and wondering what this all meant.

Well, that was last night but this morning, his torment had resumed in the cellar where it had left off. This time though it was as if both men were trying to expunge the memory of what had just happened between them, eagerly collaborating in a ritual cleansing until eventually Nico, plainly exhausted, had left him there, hog-tied, helpless and racked by pain on the bare stone floor. Finally then, Lucio slept.

He awoke to find Nico releasing his hog tie. He was coaxed into a standing position, arms still pinned to his sides. Lucio was trembling with fear now, as well he might, as Nico delivered his final verdict. This time Lucio's debts would not be forgiven, but by a happy chance the amount owed was very close to the going rate for ginger slaves, so he was being sent to the auction where he might even realise a modest extra profit for Nico, if the right buyers were alerted. Nico's parting words were coldly cruel.

Lucio felt betrayed. This wasn't how these punishments were supposed to end. He belonged to Nico! What about last night? Did that mean nothing? Then he realised the truth. That was it. Nico loved him too much. Suddenly, feet grated on the cellar steps and he looked up. Two men stood there, faces hidden in shadow, but their buff-coloured uniforms confirmed what Nico had said. They began to descend and Nico pushed him, stumbling towards them. 

After they had gone, Nico wept.

 This image is taken from the Bound Gods video Slicked Master and the Golden Boy (2009) which has a plot utterly different to my story!

Luke Riley's 'bad boy' looks earned him many appearances at Bound Gods on both sides of the S&M fence including the (for me) classic, 'Hicksville' where he kidnaps Phenix Saint, (a video which for some strange reason never made it into my mitchmen Tribute to Bound Gods). What is unexpected about this picture is how big he is, when standing next to Nick Moretti. Ideal material for the gang - and for the slave market then! Nick's suave, Italian, good looks create a more mysterious but equally intimidating presence which suits the mobster role I cast him in here.

The Look of A Cornered Man

 

An unannounced visitor was the last thing Brad ever expected in his remote retreat.

He liked the isolation of the place which meant he could go naked when he wanted. 

He'd just got out of bed, showered and was enjoying a morning stretch in the open air.

Then this shock, he hadn't heard any knock at the door but he never left it unlocked.

 

The intruder smiled at him, chains clinking faintly as he savoured the man's nudity

Of course Brad knew exactly why he was there, he could see the sadness in his eyes.

 He tossed the fetters towards him and they crashed onto the floor at his feet.

Sometimes, if he waited, the target would just pick them up and put them on.

 

 Brad was considering jumping over the balcony to escape from him.

But taking his chances in the forest, totally naked, was a daunting prospect.

He'd deliberately chosen this wild, remote place to keep people away

But if he fled there, the Catcher would just hunt him down with his darts
 

Watching his fear and turmoil the Catcher felt a pang of sympathy for the man.

On the run for 10 years now since absconding, he probably thought he must be safe.

Every year of freedom, every year older, had diminished his market value as a slave.

But every year the bounty on his head had increased, along with the reprisals he faced.

 

Catchers didn't allow themselves emotions, a runaway was just wage packet to them.

But there was something special about this spunky guy that appealed to him.

He had escaped with literally nothing, but got himself a life and some prime real estate. 

Even at 40, he looked good, smooth bodied, lean and rangy, just needing a shave and a haircut

The Catcher was tempted, but he wasn't going to give up his bounty for on a whim

and if he didn't take this guy back another Catcher would soon track him down.

But on the other hand, selling this house would easily cover the reward he was due

and leave enough over for him to buy Brad's slave indenture from his present owner.

It was a nice idea, Brad could be his 'companion' for as long as he wanted him.

He wouldn't be able to free him, but then why would he want to while he still had a value?

He'd also have to punish him severely for escaping, that was the law, sorry 'bout that Brad.

He just had to get him to sign over the house, before it could be confiscated by the State.

 

The Catcher scratched his chin, "I'll tell you what I'll do, Brad" he said.

I find this photo strangely erotic although it's quite old with dated hair styling on the model and an equally unfashionable face. It's Marcus Cobb by Colt Studio. This model is unusually naturalistic and lightly muscled for them, with a trim, soft, genuinely sexy body that looks as though it's just been unwrapped. The absence of any erection makes him seem vulnerable and in need of consolation. It's that and the sense of sudden intrusion that turns me on.

The Looks that say 'Christmas Came Early This Year'

For anyone who is alone, or feels alone this Christmas

Santa seems to occupy a  parallel, elastic, time continuum on Christmas Eve

giving him enough time to deliver presents to all the boys and girls in the world.

But it's still a pretty hectic schedule, so he must feel a bit rushed sometimes.
A bit like an NHS Doctor I suppose.

He likes to give all the deserving, gay boys exactly what they ask for.
(partly to dispell those nasty rumours about him and Rudolph)

But the trouble is they all want the same thing, every year,
so it's understandable if it doesn't always come out quite as intended.
Particularly when the 'wish list' is a tattoo and it's presented like this.

There's a get out clause though.
The recipient is not really supposed to be awake when Santa cums.
So that makes him a bad boy really, not a good boy. 
But at least he got something for staying up.
The last lad on Santa's list may find there's nothing left in the sack.
