A-Z of Fetish Artists - B2
There's a bit of mystery surrounding the identity of this artist whose work I believe dates from the early 2000's. He has an accomplished, distinctive style but the most interesting element of his work is the focus on the portrayal of black men who are severely under-represented in my mitchmen A-Z of fetish artist series and gay art generally.

This is a highly original idea for bondage furniture.
The padlocked metal 'belt' provides a single point of restraint that is completely inescapable and if the tethering is released it allows all manner of access to the unfortunate who is locked up in it.

B2's style centres on chunky muscularity with bulging thighs and biceps supplemented by clumpy footwear, oversize feet being in vogue around that time. The prominent inclusion of a sounding rod in this picture is bold and uncompromisingly erotic, it looks like a punishment for sexual misdemeanours and is clearly having a suitably chastising effect.
There's more metal ware in this image although I fear this design would be impractical for a man with massively developed thighs like this. The unusual, grid-like pattern of the leather body harness resembles the crossed bars of a prison cell and seems to firmly encase the torso rather than plumping out the juicy bits as the classic harness does.
Subjected to this heavyweight restraint, the captive has a curious look of expectant resignation, a sort of submissive, "OK, so you finally got me" look. B2's faces are authentically African but are more idealised than Belasco's 'street' guys with softly rounded features and tidy hair

B" - Naval Policeman |
I suppose the idea of tidiness in appearance is exemplified by a man in uniform, particularly a Military Policeman. I usually grumble about sailor caps which look too pristine but I suppose it's an authentic look for this job. We all love a sailor (well I do) but B2's choice of an MP from the Naval branch of the Armed Forces is an unusual one. The detailing of the belt and neatly ironed trousers looks highly authentic so I'm tempted to think there's personal knowledge here (hence all that tidy hair elsewhere?). Military discipline and hierarchy is just as restraining as metal fetters in it's own way and this cop's demanding look, stern and impatient is clearly an order, not an invitation. For the avoidance of doubt he thumbs towards his dangling baton(s). This is a very assertive portrayal of a black man but essentially drawing on white iconography.

B2 - Getting a Ticket |
This is the only white representative I've found amongst B2's work so it's interesting that he takes such a subservient role. In that respect this image too breaks free from the 'Black men bound' theme we saw in the first two pictures. But while the Navy MP (preceding above) is relatively free of negative stereotyping to most of us, the same cannot be said of a regular cop, so casting a black man in this dominant, abusing role is quite a powerful statement.
The unusual styling of the white man's clothing might suggest that the artist was
visualising a fetish encounter rather than a real life situation, but check the cop's right hand and you'll see he is holding a book of tickets and pen. Maybe it's the guy's provocative attire that has earned him the ticket.
The cop's other hand is held palm outwards and notice it has the correct, lighter skin tone ('whiter' I might say if I wanted to suggest complex motives here). This gesture could be interpreted simply as the cop's acceptance of the 'sex instead of a ticket' deal ("OK boy, go ahead"). Or it could be a theatrical underlining to us of his role reversal 'victory'. Or it could also be a statement of intent regarding the white boy's temptingly exposed ass. (While we're on that subject, that baton suddenly looks awfully black).
Anyway the symbolism here is unexpectedly penetrating.
B2's crisp styling of his character's clothing is very apparent in these last two pictures and it echoes the neat and tidy way he sees his men. Even sleazy moments like this seem clean and inoffensive.
B2 - Dungeon Ball and Chain |
That theme of tidiness and cleanliness continues with an attractive prisoner in white vest and socks, chained up in a dungeon waiting to give service. It's easy to visualise him in a suited office job. For now he 's restrained by metal fetters with added riveting which emphasises their strength and pays a compliment in turn to the entrapped power of the captive. The introduction of the convict's ball and chain in the guise of a cock weight suggest there's a degree of historical looking back to more abusive times in all this metalwork.
B2 - Self Showering |
In this picture the element of humiliation, which runs through all the pictures presented here, is expressed more strongly. There's the obvious self-inflicted, golden shower of course (relying on some imaginative fluid dynamics for direction as well as the delicious, coiled, cock-roping). But there's also a subtly suggested, underlying scenario of kidnap or forcible detention of some sort. For the prisoner here is not presented as a fetish enthusiast, but as a regular guy who wears traditional white underwear and check pattern shirts. The hooped decoration on his chunky socks is vaguely suggestive of construction worker stereotyping from which clues we may deduce that the hook from which he is suspended is not in a secluded dungeon, but on a very public, building site. B2 takes the self-conscious masculinity of workmen and turns against this particular man who presumably is deemed to be in need of taking down a peg or two. In recognition of the change in venue B2 switches to rope restraints.

Brock leaves the dungeons behind for a new life as a construction worker,

Just as I was putting this article to bed I stumbled across more, very interesting stuff starring Brock
from independent producer 'Pervout' which has hit on the idea of promoting their films with extended GIF's including the splendid encounters reproduced below. I think it's a format which works really well, succinctly encapsulating the action but leaving you wanting to see more
(which 2 minute video trailers sometimes fail to do).
Brock (as Officer Avery) goes back to his suffering ways in this encounter with Jessie Colter in which he is also forced to don a 'Piggy' head. Jessie's hat lends a military, authoritarian air which works rather well. The way he almost embraces Brock, even while he is tormenting him is spookily erotic.
This scene with Pito Savage seems to sums up my fictional 'Suffering Brock'. It shows him undergoing a protracted 'wedging', a humiliation whose effectiveness stems not so much from the physical pain inflicted but from the absurdity of being punished by your own pants in undignified positions and the inability of the wearer to prevent it happening. That's graphically illustrated here with Pito's hulking muscle convincingly trumping Brock's gym-honed strength.
Lance Hart (seen here in cerise trunks) is another serial sufferer and his proclivities in this direction provide a rare opportunity for Brock to be the top for a change, an opportunity he seizes with relish as you can see. The slightly bizarre clothing works quite well for me. Brock's black tights and peaked cap make a half-decent master's outfit (lacking only a belt perhaps). It's erotic, tasteful and not excessively complicated which makes it highly practical for physical exertion. Lance's day-glo trunks seem to suggest a man with a confident personality, maybe a model, an aspiring super-hero perhaps, but whatever the case he's been painfully brought to heel by Brock. Nice

A-Z of Fetish Artists - Yamato
Also known as Yamato Saimon but I've listed him under Y because he signs his pictures as Yamato

We're in the realm of bondage here but not Yamato shows it in public places (a building site in this case) not hidden away in dungeons. The participants are muscular but with fleshy, chunky builds. Yamato's Japanese background comes through strongly in the facial features and clothing. In this picture there's also some striking similarities with the style of Hasegawa, in the strong diagonal line of the composition for example and the sensual shading technique (which ultimately descends from Tom of Finland). The foreground face is delicious for lovers of chunkies. The half-hidden character at the back, with his drooping cigarette and slightly angular features could have been transplanted directly from one of Hasegawa's works.

You can tell from the title that Yamato is trying to tell a story in his pictures and it's a tale of the humiliation of a strong man, symbolised by the judo outfit which ties him into strong Japanese traditions of warrior manliness. The colouring of the dildo on the other hand suggests links to the theatrical imagery, which we also find in Hasegawa's work - masks, batons etc. I imagine that also brings specific meanings and flavours into this situation which a Japanese person would recognise but I'm afraid I'm not knowledgeable enough to pronounce on it here (information welcome from readers).

Yamato is flirting with niche fetishes here but keeping it clean I'm glad to say and it's a nicely balanced composition. Body tattoos are another typical feature of Japanese homoerotic imagery and I believe that it signifies a sort of rough masculinity (but not necessarily connected to social class). So in this picture there's a sense of self-abasement in front of un-tattooed, ordinary guys.

The influence of Tom of Finland is quite explicit in this work, not only are the trees and park bench a sterotypical Tom cruising location, Yamato has drawn them exactly as Tom would have done and indeed there's a very similar scene in Kake 5 (Nasty Nature Trail) reviewed here. In Tom's version a cop is seen approaching the helpless captive, whereas here we just see a light through the trees, someone drawn to the beacon provided by the burning candles. The symbolism of this scenario, like fireflies finding each other in order to mate, is rather more sophisticated, deep even, than Tom's work and very Japanese. Also while Tom did depict encounters between strangers with the possibility of unpredictable outcomes, they usually turned out to be very predictable, i.e. wham, bang, thank you mam. He rarely showed anything as explicit as this situation, where the S&M bondage adds rather intense possibilities to the forthcoming encounter with a person whose proclivities and limits are completely unknown. We can only speculate whether he will leave the victim to his fate with the burning candles or substitute something more personal for them or even assume more extreme trials are in order for the helpless man he finds.
You might like to look back at the second picture at this point and see a similar scenario which you might have missed first time round.
I haven't found a website for Yamato's work but there must be more around for an artist of this calibre. Unfortunately Yamato is a common name in Japan.

Bound and Gagged Magazine - 6
When I started out compiling this little tribute to the lasting contribution of Bound and Gagged Magazine to fetish imagery, even I didn't expect to find quite so many classic shoots. Enthusiasts should have spotted many they know and if you didn't know about it I hope you have visited Bob Wingate's blog to sample the pictures, stories and reminiscences posted there. The first image is taken from a recent posting there.

Carlos featured in some striking sets for B&G, his smoothly muscled body responding beautifully to the squeeze of the rope. This 'boy next door' scenario with his jeans and T-shirt pulled aside just enough to expose areas of interest is a classic example of the feel that B&G had for conjuring up everyday fantasies but not over-cooking them.

This image featuring a model named Ripnstrip(!) is a similar pose, in fact that looks like the same chair, but what a difference the military clothes make. The blindfold and ripped shirt convey an entirely different motivation for his captivity, brutal interrogation rather than yearning molestation. For some reason I find his shiny belt buckle mesmerising!

If I often harp on about the value of clothing in erotic imagery, I wouldn't deny the appeal of the helpless nude. The barely-visible bondage here is the most elementary form, hands tied behind back and ankles together. That simplicity focusses our full attention on the Trevor's helpless, naked body. We can't see any intimate areas either but his chunky, flexed legs are sexy enough to more than compensate for that. The chunky, purpose-designed gag makes a stark contrast to his bare flesh, like a stamp of authority.
This is purposeful bondage and the victim knows it.

I suppose I could have included this in my last post on 'furniture'. Ladders crop up quite often in B&G's output, I suppose it's the fantasy of the workman who comes to your house, but for me it's the model's bewildered expression that makes the image memorable. Worried he might well be, totally naked and perched on an improvised pedestal to which he is secured by only by his feet and which you will observe is not securely locked and potentially unstable. I haven't identified the model yet.

This final image is perhaps not well known, it's taken from a genuine scene in a club where three models were tied up by three different tops to see who could get free first. It looks like only one is really trying here but he has made this into a superb image. Multiple (buddy) bondage is always exciting, but the contrast to his passive companions is quite suggestive, could the wedding ring have anything to do with it? I've seen a lot of videos of men struggling with their bonds some energetically, some half-heartedly, but this still photo really captures the eroticism of that situation.

There are many more B&G images I would have liked to include in this series but I had to draw a line somewhere! I hope I have given some insight into the wealth of material that came from 'Bound and Gagged' and highlighted it's unique qualities.

Recently Bob has been looking into bringing back the concept as a website, but it doesn't look as though it's going to happen. Meanwhile he is selling off back issues and bondage gear from the magazine's heyday at cut prices. Whatever the future holds for 'Bound and Gagged' I think it's highly likely that these marvellous images will be around for a long time to come, a lasting legacy and a tribute to their quality and inventiveness. We owe our thanks to all those who were behind it.

Military images were a regular feature of B&G and the uniforms they used always seemed to fit the models and co-ordinate properly, giving them just enough authenticity. The haircut too is right in this example.

Spanking fans were well looked after by B&G and they are probably responsible for a large proportion of the posts by the studio circulating on the internet. The coupling of spanking and bondage is a rare treat and this set is made all the more memorable by the model's natural attractions and (for me) the half-masted,white underpants.
'Shadow' buckled, tied and taped
Serious bondage with the arms pulled right back and the face almost mummified. The combination of all these different types of restraint seems like overdressing to me, but it gives a powerful impression of overwhelming subjugation. The street clothes, suggestive of a manual worker, are a million miles away from the world of leather dungeons - but perhaps not for much longer!

The title is as memorable as the image itself and it spawned many fantasy moments for me.
B&G often showed the process of tying up the captive, which I find highly erotic.Unfortunately most commercial imagery these days tends to focus on the end result only. 'Roping' up is more suited to still imagery rather than videos, since endless fumbling
with knots and feeding of long ropes through loops while the 'victim' patiently waits, unresisting, is not very exciting
(although all that's needed is some imaginative editing to make it so).
The 2 on 1 situation depicted here is not without it's appeal either. It elevates the tension in the situation and in an isolated still photo you can read the 'attacker's' smiles as simply playful or something more sinister.

There was a plentiful supply of cute models for the publication and some useful ideas on what to do with your captive when you have finished preparing him. In this set the model was seated outside on a porch for the enjoyment of passers by.

These images come from the RetroRope Blog which is a fairly recent arrival.
It's full of original, good quality, bondage imagery.

For the most part the guys are fully dressed in simple, masculine clothes, like the classic white tee-shirt and jeans above. This gives air of authenticity, regular guys, a visiting workman perhaps, come to fix the plumbing, then unexpectedly trapped and made captive.
The stuggles of the captives trying to escape their bondage are particularly well depicted and purposeful. This young man twists round to assess his position while his captor is away, no doubt examining the pockets of his trousers to discover more about his unwanted visitor.
There's no nudity on this site, but the occasional flash of practical male underwear is not short of erotic power. The shirt and tie, carefully placed on one side in this picture, suggest this business man intended to return to his office. But someone may have other ideas.
The bondage formula is simple - hands, feet and gag. It allows the men great freedom to struggle and flex their bodies. How little it takes for a strong man to be placed under control.
There's an air of concentration about this workman as he tests the captor's restraints.
His simple clothing, complete with chunky belt and workboots is strongly masculine. The glimpse of nipple mound and defined forearm muscle is subtly erotic.

The earthy colours and uncluttered appearance of the apartment setting used by the photographer gives a stylish feel to the pictures and focusses attention firmly on the models and their plight. No garish duvets here! I'm glad the captor made this salesman remove his jacket before tying him up. Jackets look messy scrunched up with rope and shirts are more revealing, spot the nipple! The white vest worn unself-consciously beneath the shirt is another delightful 'real man' touch.
For this man, the possibility of escape has been made more difficult by the removal of his shoes.The level of restraint is more aggressive too. The chest and upper arm binding limits the scope for him to slip out of his wrist ties, Tieing his ankles to the cross bracing of the chair makes lifting his leg that much harder too. His feet can barely reach the floor, showing their shape to good effect for those of us who enjoy such things.
