I've flipped the 'all time' popularity listings this year to give precedence to hit rates averaged out over the number of years since publication. This is a method that gives recent articles the same chance as older ones. I have retained the 'total number of hits since publication' but as a secondary measure, since it has reached a point where older articles have established unassailable totals.

Short cut to Last Years Table

IFNB and Milking Factory topped the table again this year and continue to outscore every other post in the blog on a regular basis. The gap between these two closed a little, but the the chasing pack have been falling further and further behind. All of the top 8 articles kept the same position but there was much jostling further down.

 The two top articles benefitted from new posts on the same subject in 2024 (IFNB Newsletter and the continuing stream of Milking Factory posts). Other entries which benefited from 'connected articles' were Homoeros, Etienne, Brosfate and Chirenon's 'Air Force Boys' which re-entered the chart after a two year absence thanks to it's linkage with Etiennes 'Sailor Beware' story and it's Royale Studio spin-off. There are 3 articles about Homoeros' work in the table and 2 by Brosfate.

 Amalaric stormed this chart back in 2021 and has kept it's 3rd position just behind the two leaders without any extra support this year, a measure of genuine lasting popularity. Amalaric has 2 articles in the chart. Three older stalwarts of the chart have also been quietly maintaining their positions without any extra publicity - Priapus at 6, MCarcel at 9 (up 1) and Cavelo at 12 (up 2). The resurgence of the last two is remarkable, considering that they are the oldest articles in this top 20, no less than 14 and 16 years old and still going strong!

There were three new entries this year, or rather, three 'returners' who ejected more recent upstarts who haven't sustained their early successes (Roa, Planet Gay and Brick). They were replaced by Milking Factory 5 and Airforce Boys (both after one year out) and my own 'Christmas Criminal' (last here in 2020) which I gave a modest plug this Christmas on 'X'. The departers look likely to be followed next time by the only photographic article in the table, 'Come and Get It!', which has become redundant with the transfer of Royale Studio material to the new Royale blog. 

I don't count articles less than one year old in this table. I have indicated where they would have registered in orange but Ain Postolos score is artificial, it exceeds the number of real hits he has had so far, due to being published less than a year ago.

The entry level to this table is 1593 down from 1862 last year. It's well within the range of Ain Postolos if he can keep up with his first year score of 1475 in the future.

The A-Z Index of Artists at mitchmen hit score presently averages 10,777

This year again it was pretty much 'as you were' in the all-time table of total hits with the notable exception of Milking Factories-1 which reclaimed the No 1 spot it had in 2022, returning IFNB to second place (and closing the gap in Table 1). These two continue to pull away strongly from the rest of the pack, who are now a long, long way behind them. 

 

This table has a number of older articles which no longer feature in Table 1, but have built up big totals in earlier years which are almost unassailable by new ones. Thus Brick's resurgence here, prompted by the release of new work in 2023 and continued in 2024, doesn't register in Table 1, where under-performance in earlier years depresses it's rating . He nudged past Amalaric's 'Slave to Passion' into 12th place and is closing in on Franco and Malex (two other old-timers). Further down, Homoeros (Art of the Cross) swapped places with The Hun, rising to 16th position and more than reclaiming the ground he lost last year. 

 

The Milking Factory series has 3 entries in this table and all consolidated their positions in the top 20 with Milking Factory No 4 overtaking Martin of Holland to take 14th place. Milking Factory No 2 is just outside the top 20. Homoeros is the only artist to have two dedicated articles in the top 20, although Kalabro contributed to 'Milking Factory 1' as well as his dedicated article, so he has a comparable claim.

There were no new entries to the top 20 once again this year, but there's a gaggle of contenders just outside and performing strongly (including 'Airforce Boys' and Brosfate 3). The bottom two articles, Kalabro and The Hun, are now vulnerable to this wave.

The entry level to this all-time top 20 is now 12,532 about 400 more than last year. It's about 10 times the winning total of the new posts in 2023 and 2024 which is why I have switched to the annual hit rates as the principal measure of 'all time' performance.

 

The mitchmen  'Index of Artists' page reached 99,300 hits at the end of 2024, a 13% rise (compared with 13% last time also). It would have earned top spot in this ranking if I counted it as a post.

The articles I post to this blog are very much based on my own interests and fancies but the results of this survey do help me plan future offerings. My readers preferences doesn't always match my own (where are Les, JoeT and Link?). Nevertheless it's gratifying to see such interest in the great gay fetish artists who often have a fairly low visibility on the web.

Remember, this comparison is only made for entertainment, since I don't really know how accurate Google's stats are, they don't seem to add up to the overall hits at the blog and I suspect they don't count the activity of people who just browse through the blog roll.

Tribute to Stan of Sweden - 2

One of the great fetish fads of the sixties was for putting muscle men in skimpy, tight, white, gym shorts. Scott of London was a memorably, sexy exponent of the genre whilst Royale Studio had a claim to be pioneers of the trend with storyettes like 'The Football Ballet' in 1957 and a number of stunning 'Sporting Hunks'

Stan was late joining this party but this contribution to the genre was typically stylish and restrained.

 Bo Johansson is seen here in a different, far from boyish light. In this rear view his shorts look satisfyingly snug, but not unnaturally tight. Their neat new appearance makes an attractive package. The subtly notched leg hem is a true connoisseur's touch.

Patrick Berglund by Stan of Sweden

Patrick Bergland's handsome, classical body-builder pose contrasts with well-worn gym shorts which hint at the hard work needed to produce such a stunning physique and the earthy qualities of the man within. The low waist, slung below the hips, halfway to his groin, trades in practicality for something sexier. The tucked-up legs accentuate the models thigh's and create radiating crease lines outlining his balls, lifted and divided by the centre seam. A surprisingly daring image for Stan.

Hartell Jukka by Stan of Sweden

 The turned-down waist and tucked in legs of this model's shorts create briefer proportions that leave no doubt about the erotic intent. Typically, Stan captures a nervous glance to one side, as if he is embarrassed to be seen making such a daring display of himself. His relatively ordinary, slightly boyish face somehow makes it seem out of character. He leans back against a reassuring pillar in contrived nonchalance, perhaps not realising quite how much his groin is pushed forwards.

Stan has shaped the model's tackle here more in the style of Scott, it's prominent but less explicit in shape (at first sight). The tight centre seam has been pulled right up into the model's groin pushing the dangling assembly to one side where the shadowed outline of his cock can be made out, curving down in front of his balls.

Stan has also cajoled this model into a forward-thrusting pose, with hands clasped behind leaving no hiding place, not even a prop to hang on to. There's an endearing look of uncertainty in his face, a nervous smile struggling to overcome his embarrassment and the loneliness of standing naked and provocative before the camera. 

His shorts look as if they might be the same ones Bo Johansson was wearing in the first picture. The cut is already brief enough to discomfort any man accustomed to pants that hang from his waist (as was the norm back then). They are pulled high at the sides, defensively, but the waistline still dips low enough to expose a sizeable tuft of pubic hair. The bulk of the model's tackle is even more anonymous here, but the bulging shapes either side of the centre seam and straining crease lines indicate a substantial presence. A curious haze hints at even naughtier details higher up, deemed not fit for publication.  

Billy by Stan of Sweden

Stan has used the same formula here although Billy's incredible 'cut' musculature makes an extremely effective distraction from matters of sensuality. His facial expression can best be described as wary and challenging, confident of his own attractiveness, but less sure about what the photographer is doing with it. 

This image departs from the white, gym shorts formula, reflecting instead the emergence of bolder male fashions in the sixties which even reached into men's swimwear. Mmmm. These belted shorts emphasised the new, daring low waisted style, offering manly reassurance of protection from marauders and support in an emergency.

The forward thrust of the model here seems much more confident, so Stan's fiddling down below comes as something of a surprise. The tucked-up legs don't quite quite fit the glamourous, aloof aura and the massive frontal bulge seems at variance with the impression of boyish innocence. It invokes feelings of doubt and scepticism battling with optimistic desire in the viewer. A bit too perfect perhaps.

Lennart Svensson by Stan of Sweden

Stan picks up another theme of the 50's/60's, taking a leaf out of John Barrington's book with this image of Lennart Svensson wading in the sea in his jeans. It's probably chilly Baltic waters, hence the model's discomforted look, but the scenario is an admiring echo of Barrington's studies of the young men of the Cote d'Azure, like his images of Yves Grangeat, shot for Royale Studio. 

IFNB 3 - International Federation of Naked Bodybuilders Newsletter

A Poster For an IFNB event From 2012

The fictional, 'International Federation of Naked Body Builders' has formed the subject of two articles previously at mitchmen blog (IFNB-1 and IFNB-2). Much of the ethos and workings of the Federation have been described there. This article is by way of being a Newsletter style update on the activities of some of the members since then. 

The official measure-up for Mr Megamale contestants at The Palisades was briefly disrupted when middleweight hopeful Pete Petrovich shot his load over the two officials who were attempting to classify his dick size. According to one report he took exception to a comment he heard about it.  Afterwards Official Wayne Dickerson laughed it off, saying it was a misunderstanding. "I've had worse things happen" he joked "If you have to work close to these guys, some stuff's bound to rub off on you".

Lucky Lindhof had cause to be thankful to his fans when he seemed to have 'hit the wall' 

and dried up in the qualifying rounds for this year's Mr Alpha. Super Fan Edwin Plummer dashed to the performing rostrum and coaxed him back to life with spectacular results.

Though in retirement now, Super Star Dan Otter, treated a lucky fan to a once-in-a-lifetime training experience at a recent NBA, display event in Florida and showed he's lost none of his former prowess.

NBA hopeful Stan Kuziack couldn't contain his excitement when Cumblast talent scout, 

Don Hutchins spotted him at an Atlanta gym and promptly picked him up for his roster.

NBA champ, Pierre Douton (Mr Alpha) shown seeding Braden Cameron at Bud Wieziek's Training Centre for up and coming Pro's in West Virginia. Ingesting top quality ejaculate is crucial to achieving the highest performance levels in IFNB Competitions. Braden had cause to be grateful to Pierre who rarely gives free donations.

Rico Bandeas reacted angrily to rumours that he was running through the membership list at his home training ground in Texas. "It's training not socialising" he maintained to our reporter who caught up with him working hard with an assistant. Few of the members we spoke to wanted to comment on the reports. "We all think he's just a great guy" one said.

When popular Trainer Brian Kessenger moved to a new gym in Oklahoma, his reputation preceded him and he told us he was mobbed by the regulars, all eager to get a tip and show him what they can do as well. Brian says he loves these boys and just laps it all up, but he still finds time to service his regular clients and prepare for the Nationals.

At his training camp in Africa, the legendary Wayne Mkemba gives personal inspiration to his pupils. Here Thembaka Mbhele presses 150Kg for the first time under his guidance and encouragement. Wayne is an enormous presence in his life, he said.

Heavyweight youngster Harvey Gleeson is shown here getting a  personalised stim work out from an IFBN accredited educator at a New York semenar for prospective Champions. "It's great being picked out for this specialised course" he told us, "I've learned about things I never dreamed possible from Ed (his educator) and his patience and stamina are amazing".

Most Popular Post of All Time

IFNB contestants love the adoration of their fans and are usually good to them. A spontaneous drenching with ejaculate is appreciated even more than an autograph and the top fans know exactly how to stimulate their favourites to produce it. This one laps up his hero's generous gesture and he probably won't wash for a week - or take that T-shirt off. Where provenance exists, like this photo, garments that have been cum-stained by popular competitors can become valuable, collector's items.

2023

Most Popular Post of All Time

 IFNB contests are physically and emotionally draining but for most competitors the effort is well worth it simply for the chance of displaying their bodies and sexual potency in front of a wildly enthusiastic audience. Of course going home with some silverware (and a few days worth of cheap protein shake) is every man's ultimate ambition and that moment when the still dripping, victorious contestants can proudly pose on stage with their enormous trophies and their cups is beyond description. 

And yet it's also something of an anti-climax. At this year's Mr West Coast competition, runner-up Leo Graballsky (left) told reporters that he usually can't wait to get back to his wife to discharge his tensions after a contest. It's rumoured that he was embarrassed when handsome, third placed Greg Knuckles (right) offered to share tips with him in the dressing room after the presentation. Apparently, the Winner, Ivor Wayovdoinu took up the offer and the two men, newly buddies, worked on it all night in the dorm.

Animas Animus - Captain America & The Punisher

AnimusAnimus has a simple recipe for his art - men with exceeding large asses being dominated by their muscular peers and this is an excellent example. This spanking image is full of energy and lust. 

But if his themes are simple his art isn't, despite appearances in this cartoon. The contrasting characterisations of the super-clean Captain America and the super-butch Punisher mine a very rich seam of rebellious non-conformity in the male breast. Dressing the punisher in jeans invites us to identify with him. His lovingly detailed boots and stubbled chin stress an earthy masculinity that seems to elude the goody-goodies of this life.

AnimasAnimus & Shadowwow - Set Me Free

This image seems to explore the other side of the coin, the devilry and beastliness that lurks within the non-conformist and the ability those characteristics have to tempt ordinary mortals. I'm not sure why the artists have chosen a crab to represent such secret longings, unless there's magic involved. 

I love the setting of a desert island beach. It's almost as this hulk has been deposited in Ehrlik territory where I imagine he would give the native Amazons a run for their money in the man-collecting stakes. If your fate as a wrong-doer is to be isolated from the rest of the world in an inescapable prison this place beats the deep burial option by a country mile.

I normally steer clear of mixed-species creatures like this but I like this one's fleshy physique and it is just the face that's morphed, no paws or tails. The grotesque facial characterisation complete with pirate patch is nicely conceived, but still the image would work better for me if he had a more human face - more like the Punisher above, say.

AnimasAnimus - Easter Egg Wrap 

The artist gives full rein to his perverse imagination in this delightful image, adapting the ancient fetish practice of oriental balls to a more prosaic, but not entirely hygienic purpose although I don't suppose that consideration would deter all my readers. It's utter fantasy of course, where does the wrapping come from? How do you stop the chocolate melting? But it's good to see that the captive worker slaving away seems to be enjoying his job so much. (Yes I know he's got a tail but it's only a little one!).

The concept of a hole-in-the-wall incarceration, display and dispensing service, usually targeting super-heroes, appeals to the erotic imagination and has spawned a lot of variations over the years. 

AnimasAnimus - Muscle Lovers (my title)

This fantasy (100% human!) wittily goes to the root of the matter (as it were) with an unbelievably over-developed, young muscleman apparently having sex with his own reflection and filming it on his phone so his fans can admire and envy him. AA's admiration of these types is obvious even when he's poking fun at their human weakness. 

AnimasAnimus - Venom's Playthings

When this artist wades into superhero sexual exchanges he often discards the normal physical constraints of bodies to achieve fantastical super-intercourse, but as the action develops these images sometimes become bafflingly complex, especially when self-morphing creatures like Venom are involved. This image actually shows The Hunk and Rocket-Head trapped in a deeply intimate coupling after Venom (right) has lured them into erotic combat and somehow coated and enclosed them with some of his own latex-like skin. I don't profess to know how that works but I love the concept! 

This image reminds me of a scenario that had a brief vogue a few years ago when the Chris Redfield biohazard craze was at it's height. A Security Guard patrolling outside a bio-plant found himself assailed by tentacles emerging from the earth, totally absorbed by the mutant being and converted into a something resembling a sort of perpetual sex machine. He did not lose his bodily integrity as a human but his sexual parts became predominant at the expense of motor and communication functions. His new whole became a solid bio-mass that looked like a throbbing machine when his colleagues found him. Something like the image just above. It's an idea I'd like to have illustrated myself but I think it calls for the wizardry of computer art.

AnimasAnimus shop at Gumroad

If you are intrigued by the art of Animas-Animus it's probably a good idea to understand what the term means. Without going into the psychological theory of Jung, the animus is the unconscious masculine side of a woman, and the anima is the unconscious feminine side of a man*. I think this artist is probably interpreting this idea in a general way about roles and role reversal but embraces animal characteristics as well to an extent that I have barely touched on in this article.

Royale Models - Peter George 5 - Fishing for Bulges

Peter George seems to be hanging up his fishing net here at the end of long day of work. 
It's a nice image giving a pleasing, mildly suggestive view of his cute, tight ass. 

It's a civilian scenario but he's wearing a military belt, it is discarded for other shots in the set.

The underlying, arm raised, pose here is inspired by the victory salute in classical statues, so draping it with a black net seems like a deliberate comment on the artistic restrictions caused by the social attitudes of the 50's. The rope coiled round his wrist is even more obviously symbolic of restraint. 

This group of photos appeared in 1961/62 under Royale's, then-emerging, Hussar brand. Peter's tight white trousers with the bottoms of the legs turned up copy what sailors used to do when washing decks but the practice also suggests a dash of stylish individuality which has not been completely overwhelmed by the uniform. 

The rope and the net augment the nautical theme but also supply a hint of bdsm.

 Matt Carrol, Fed Up Sailor by John Palatinus

Calf length trousers were also used for sailor imagery by other contemporaries, such as Palatinus and Barrington. This picture addresses the drudgery and humiliation of having to wash decks directly but the lump in his pants suggests he doesn't mind being bossed. They look more like riding breeches than naval ducks to me but I'm not complaining!

 This is the time of year for nicely wrapped packages, so this grainy image of Peter George is not entirely out of place. The bulge in his pants is teasingly believable here (if not quite as riveting as Matt Carrol's hosepipe just above).

Peter has discarded his belt here and is also disentangled from the rope and net, but his slightly seductive pose does not entirely dispel the simmering possibility of restraint and bdsm. We saw the fishing net previously, you may recall, in the fetishistic, wader images of Peter George Part 4. It's possible these pictures come from the same shoot. 

US sailors did wear straw boaters something like this at one time, but I'm not sure that Brits ever did, certainly not with shredded brims. Basil Clavering was an ex-sailor and a stickler for authenticity by some accounts, but the pictures in this series put me more in mind of a farm boy than a sailor.

 This proud, defiant pose with net and rope completely discarded seems to pick up that idea of throwing off restraint. It also  gives Peter a chance to show off some impressive pec and arm musculature projecting a sense of inner power that counterbalances the sudden appearance of  'nakedness' produced by discarding the belt and all those accessories.

I dare say that the bulge lower down has also caught your eye. It' looks a more improbable manifestation here but still teases the eye with intriguing detail and I suppose it contributes a sexual dimension to the story of the inner man breaking free. It irresistibly reminds me of the homoerotic trickery of British contemporary photographer, Scott of London*.

I don't think the tight fit of the pants around Peter's thighs is faked, however, it's a very sexy look.

*Normally Basil Clavering and his colleague John Parkhurst are credited with producing the photographs of Royale Studio but I do wonder whether Scott (aka Tom Nicholl) was involved when I see 'bulge' pictures like this. He certainly photographed some of the models used by Royale for his own output and I recently stumbled across a reference which suggests a more direct connection which I will reveal in a future post.

No Peter George series of photographs is complete without some shots of his amazing backside. 

Even cloaked in trousers in an image of indifferent quality, his allure shines through.

These clandestine peeks always seem sexy.

His face seems to reflect his growing maturity from this viewpoint.

Freed from his constraints the freed man relaxes into dreams while he waits for the right man to come alone (Matt Carrol?). I don't think he'll have to wait too long.

Peter's backside is once again the focus here in an image that is unquestionably framed with an eye to sexual allure. There's absolutely no pretence of showcasing an athlete's dedication to health and weight-training in the gym - although I've no doubt that pursuit contributed to his shapeliness in this department. 

This daring image appeared in the British Magazine, Scan No 10 in 1961. 

Whether they got away with it I don't know.

101 Uses For A Belt - No 9, Making Friends At The Gym

If you are too shy to make a direct approach to your favourite gym hunk, 
try 'shaking hands' with his dangling belt during your usual conversations about training routines.

 Watch his face to see what the reaction is before progressing further. 

If he isn't unbuckled, undo your own belt first
and begin a discussion about abdomen-shaving,
He will almost certainly follow suit.

IMPORTANT: It's advisable to let him unbuckle his own belt, don't do it for him.
