Bathed in a chilling, blood-red light, they await the arrival of their captor, knowing that they will be unable to resist his supernatural powers.

Guy Winfield's art reproduces classic, 'guy in trouble' scenarios. 
That means there are lots of men tied up in their underwear.
All captions here have been added by me, but I link to the unaltered originals.

Guy Winfield - Unexpected Visitor

'The lone camper' is a theme that exploits isolation and vulnerability and draws on the horror library of rednecks who don't welcome uninvited guests. Sometimes the camp invader is a figure of authority or a lawman, enforcing the rules of a protected wilderness. It's not clear whether this man fits into that category, but his muscles and tattoos create an intimidating effect without any need for a uniform. It looks like the camper won't have the option of refusing his invitation anyway, and I dare say he won't be putting on his clothes for it either. 
 
There's another example of the genre in my post about tru3ai, also in otklad part 3, Stonecrooze and a video realisation starring Logan Vaughn in The Cabin. The take by Jonathan featuring camping buddies is one of my favourites.

Guy Winfield - Cop captives impersonated

The perils of the wilderness are not solely reserved for the young and fit (as was graphically demonstrated in 'Deliverance'). These two unfortunate cops seem to fall in-between those extremes. Their patterned underwear gives their plight a comic twist as the villains speed off in their uniforms and car. No doubt heading for a role-playing convention. If they had left the cops in their tighty whiteys or less, it would have created a very different effect. However, the men who roam these woods at night are probably not that discriminating.
 
 
Guy Winfield - No Trespassing

Both captor and captured alike in this variation seem to be dressed in military garb, which doesn't quite gel with the artist's title. Infiltration by the other side isn't usually regarded as trespass. Perhaps civilians who are caught on military land in these parts are punished by automatic induction into the armed forces. The camp guards must carry supplies of army underwear to get them started. I guess that's their civilian clothes going up in smoke in the background.
(or perhaps a companion who suffered an even worse fate, Sci-Fi style).
 
 
Guy Winfield - Overpowered Pilot

This is one of a series, which the artist seems to see as a hijacking scenario. Another uniform-based impersonation scam. However, there are rather dark associations with that since 9/11. My caption visualises a more frivolous scenario, the result of an on-line, Christmas shopping spree by a distant, very rich potentate.

 The artist has also produced a number of variations on this theme, based on the idea of villains stealing the uniforms of two safari guides, so that they can rob the tourists booked in for the trip. 
 
The image is capable of less innocent interpretations than that, of course. It looks as if these two men have been parcelled up and are waiting to be shipped out.

The crossed legs bondage in this variant is more severe and seems to imply more than simply detention and immobilisation. It's a punishment reminiscent of unethical POW treatment in some parts of the world. In the safari context, these men might be poachers, caught in the act and awaiting shipment to prison. Could be a bumpy ride.

This variation 
(see artist's unaltered original) seems to depart from the Guide impersonation scenario completely, unless this is an forlorn escape attempt to raise the alarm. 
 
It might be another poacher punishment, of course, but it reminded me of the 'Stud Hunt' scenario of Amalaric (see 'The Thrill of The Chase', image 507 onwards). 'The Hunt' (2020 movie) had a similar plot line. In my variation, the quarry is severely handicapped, suggesting near-certain capture by the pursuers. However, the hunting mode is non-lethal, so that the hunters can enjoy their catch afterwards, however they wish.

This image of a delivery van being hi-jacked, and its driver stripped of his uniform, has created a splendidly dramatic underwear exposure.
 
However, I get the impression that this hijacker is going to take his captive with him - for his own private, nefarious reasons - or maybe to spare him the night terrors of the forest. He might even be on a mission, sent to collect this man who was caught by a male-order recruitment squad, while innocently walking his dog in the early morning. 
 
If you look closely, you'll see that the captive has an unusual, non-organic shape in his underpants, rather like the base of a well-known sex toy. That may provide an additional explanation of his discomforted expression. His introductory training has already started.

 

Guy Winfield - Stripped For The Uniform

Despite the title, it looks like this chap has been stripped for more than just his uniform. It certainly doesn't look like his attacker is about to leave without him. His fierce expression does not exactly suggest he's got everything he wanted. I don't suppose he wants to leave all that rope behind, either. 
 
It's possible that he has just informed his captive that the polka dot under-shorts will not be needed where they are going. It's no good, looking at us for help, mate. We don't like 'em either!
 
Guy Winfield -First Day in Detention

The artist's understated title here leaves the way open for the usual cracks about cute guys being popular in the prison - with the guards and with the scary inmates. The tape gags might be taken as a none too subtle hint of severe disciplinary standards within the walls, with no talking back tolerated.

Escape Rooms are supposed to be fun, bonding adventures according to the blurb. But what would happen if men with dubious motives got hold of the concept and made it rather more difficult? 

These three buddies were probably not expecting to be stripped like real convicts, but it really added atmosphere to their experience. The handcuffs and gags would obviously make puzzle-solving and collaboration more difficult but, hey, they were up for any challenge. Still, the electrified belts seemed a little unfair, they hadn't expected to be punished if they got the puzzles wrong or didn't behave as they had been instructed. 

It was only when they were locked up in separate, sound-proof cells that the truth began to dawn...... 

 

Guy Winfield - Arrested Gangsters

 These two, cute gangsters have come to the jail house dressed in rather nice matching shorts. Tape gagging arrested men isn't normal, but I expect they deserved it. It stops them getting the same story lined up. Could make for some interesting body searches and interviews too. No wonder their expressions are so grim!

 

Guy Winfield - Dutch Football Team in Trouble

 For some reason, soccer players don't have quite the same appeal to me as their burly rugby equivalents. Their shorts always contrive to disguise their undoubtedly chunky thighs. However, this image scores with its tight bondage, pec effects and with No 2's semi-excited reaction to being tied up. They are all peering up into the sky, as if a helicopter is coming in to land. Coming to take them away?

Inspection

There's a mysterious, dungeon-like atmosphere in this image. A muscular stud is secured in a pillory device. His rear end is being examined by a much bigger man, wearing a ritualistic mask. 

 

Crated, Trained

Another image of trapped muscularity. This man's collar is a mark of his status. The uncompromisingly strong iron gate that contains him shows respect for his strength but neutralises it.

 

Sub2

This artist looks at the more arcane activities of leathermen at play. This piggybacking harks back to archaic practices of servants transporting their masters around.  

 

Focus

 'Focus' by this artist depicts the notion of service in a more conventional manner, with a chained slave on his knees about to worship his Master's prized possession.

Exposed

In this image, the artist depicts masculine power of a different sort, with the subject's flamboyant hair and lean physique suggesting streetwise wiliness and earthiness. He confidently removes his clothes in a public toilet. Anonymity is the custom here, and that gives power and freedom.

  

Support

This picture of a man loitering, brazenly naked, in a public alleyway is simple but powerful. Presumably it's a place that he knows will only be frequented by other men who will appreciate his seductive display. He offers himself but his boldness will intimidate some. 

 

Windows

This image seems to show a more organised and intense approach to the same transaction. Rent boys gather at an open window, not just showing their beautiful bodies, but projecting lust and sexual challenge. There's a slightly demonic cast to their expressions that suggests danger lurks within, despite the lure of sexual availability.

There are historical precedents to this imagery 

 

Three

You might sense a more clandestine demon lurking in this image. A man whose dark looks and personality seems to have brought him a pair of admirers jockeying for his attention. He encourages them both with a hint of pleasure to come, but they are not the focus of his attention. He is calculating.

 

Surrender 2

This image (possibly by a different artist) combines the two themes of dungeons and demons. It also seems to express two extremes of desire. A young man with a (possibly naive) interest in the black arts of S&M is being overwhelmed by a hardened expert. His bite condemns the young experimenter into a lifetime in his thrall. 

This scenario suggests a more believable interpretation of who seduced whom in the garden of Eden by taking a bite of the juicy offering.

 

Devil's Due

The title of this dramatic, demon piece suggests it is the inevitable price of bartering with the devil, but there is a sense of naive innocence in the young man's carefully trimmed beard. I suspect some of the toughened characters in this artist's work might see this as a romantic seduction, albeit one that lays bare the pecking order, as it were. Even this celebrant seems to be ecstatic rather than chastened.

 

Cave Troll

The same cannot be said of the hero in this image, which seems to celebrate the disillusionment of good intentions. This Knight Adventurer had no doubt set out hoping to do good by slaying some demons and monsters. Instead, he ends up getting stripped of his protective armour by one and getting the rough end of his stick. He doesn't seem too comfortable with this outcome. 

 

Damned

The title and soaring gothic background here seems to express the conventional, religious interpretation of demons being the agents of eternal, unspeakable punishment. Looking at the damned man's face, though, you can't help thinking it's all rather tongue in cheek. He seems to be not so much suffering, as savouring it to the full. His body language suggests willingness, too. 

But it's still unspeakable as it happens.

 

Dark Desires

 The title of this, similar image recognises better the dilemma of pleasure and punishment. The spikes in the background and suggestion of caging widen the options for both. The devil is bigger here, his hands gripping the human and firmly holding him down. It's a particularly explicit expression of the domination which pervades this artist's work. We can't see how the devil's 'victim' feels about this, just that he's braced himself. Damned if you do and damned if you don't, you might say 

 

Home Grown

This murky image also seems rather like a depiction of damnation, but the title suggests a Sci-Fi creation scenario. Despite the foetal position and umbilical connections the fledgling seems remarkably well-developed, tattoos and all, and yet he's still dependent and controlled, so it's not such a different subject after all. 

There's some clever assembly of imagery to create this storyline 

'Interface', another picture by this artist that I've posted at 'X'  seems to blend Sci-Fi and horror. It shows another, attractive, young man being overpowered by skeletal robots with glowing skull eyes.

Tight End

What a great backside! The pun in the title of this picture is not new, butt I don't think I've seen it illustrated so precisely or alluringly before. Nor have I seen such a calculating temptation portrayed in a Locker Room context, it's usually the domain of manly posturing, casual nudity and furtive, stolen glimpses. This footballer has a scary look that links with the demons of other pictures and the challenge of the boys at the window. You can't be sure whether it's an inviting dare or a warning.   

 

Traffic Stop

This image suggests common ground between the uncertainty of the locker room and police stop scenarios (with another, mixed pun in the title). The body language is not threatening here, but the sun shades make it hard to be sure.

The Art of Miloinvinculis

Miloinvinculis - Alien Hive

 I've been trailing a series of video clips by this artist in recent weeks (see Pirate Punishments). These show the (still developing) power of AI to create memorable, homoerotic film scenes which mainstream moviemakers dare not make, bringing niche gay fantasies to life, but without resorting to messy smut. This image is a good example, a still from a clip invoking the power of wetness and dripping 'substance', to underline the vulnerability of a chunky soldier who has somehow got himself stranded in an 'Alien Hive'. 

All the stills presented here come from clips, which you can view at the link given at the foot of this article. Most are quite brief, but add a bit extra to the story and often have a twist, right at the end. 

The old sixties film 'Mysterious Island' has a brief sequence in which a scantily clad cast-away is trapped by a giant bee in his honeycomb. Unlike the unfortunate above, he (a) is not tied up, (b) has a girl with him and (c) escapes almost immediately by melting the wax seal with a fire. Don't ask where he got the firewood and match from! Despite these shortcomings, I found that scene exciting (and frustrating!) when I stumbled on it. (I referenced this it previously here, in an article about the Art of Siproites, which features a giant scorpion chasing the hero into a similar, but botanical trap).   

The outcome of the 'Alien Hive' isn't specified by the artist (like all the best horror movies), 
but escape doesn't seem to be on the agenda.

 

Miloinvinculis - Bed Bondage 3
 Men tied to beds and struggling to escape are not an uncommon sight in our corner of the gay universe. AI to date has shown very limited power to depict bondage convincingly or capture the struggling effect. The spread eagle position is less of a challenge, but what the artist has done here is to provide a hunky subject and a stimulating, secondary predicament for him, wide open before a door, which is going to open at some point. To admit his captor, perhaps, who has been away, getting rid of a nosy cop. Home Alone should have been more like this! 
 
 
Nice Mistake (Video clip)
 
There's definitely a 'Home Alone' feel about this man's situation. His night visitor is so excited about the opportunity thrown up by his 'nice mistake', that he seems to overlook the logistical obstacles to taking full advantage of it. But, who can blame him for his over-eagerness? Fortunately, it appears that his hunky prey is too intimidated by his villainous appearance and aggression to offer any serious resistance.

Miloinvinculis - Caleb

'Caleb' is one of this artist's longer clips. We see him tied up in a van on his way to an uncertain fate. There's a lengthy bondage struggle in which the captive's body twists and turns, showing his heaving chest and the undulations and distortions of his muscles to great erotic effect. It's more effective in that respect than most of the real life bondage clips I've seen, where the models (understandably) usually lack any desire to escape, let alone the self awareness and flamboyance to act out a genuine escape attempt. Caleb's struggle is brought to an abrupt end when his captor returns with a taser (above), but it's fascinating and sexy while it lasts.
 
Miloinvinculis - At The Stake

 This is a great bondage image, with the neck restraint a fitting humiliation for such a big man. I won't go into the exact nature of his predicament, but there's a clue in the background. The resulting video clip is amazing, but graphic, so be warned.

 

Miloinvinculis - Captured POW's

The strength of this piece is the subtle plot development that happens in your mind as you look at it. The two, hyper-real hunks grab the eye immediately, men with faces, muscles and body hair to die for. Their dog tags and hands on their heads indicate they are POW's, but the handcuffs suggest that they are rather special prisoners. We can see that for ourselves, of course. 
 
There's something exciting about two buddies, who are in captivity together. Their identical underwear (sober black but pleasingly scanty) amplifies that sensation. Are their garments Government issue - or have they been provided by their captors, having relieved them of their uniforms?
Whichever the case, they are not soldiers any more. Just a names and numbers. 

These boys seem to be sitting on a mattress, not quite big enough to be a bed. Then you realise that the mattress is inside a metal box, and they are sitting on the front edge. The box is just big enough to accommodate them both, if not in comfort exactly. Their facial expressions suggest they have just discovered they are about to be sealed inside it. Prime specimens about to be transported to ......
Well, you can decide that!  

There is a video clip for this piece, but it doesn't add an awful lot to the snapshot.

 

Miloinvinculis - Bull Barn Milking 2

Industrial Milking is a popular topic at this blog, and 'Milo' makes an interesting contribution to the imagery of the technology with this piece. The exact mechanics of extraction look a bit sketchy, though. One senses this is more a prank on the side than part of a serious industrial enterprise. 
One man doesn't make a milking factory, no matter how productive he appears to be!

In this gentleman's case, the picture cropping draws a veil over the extraction mechanism, but you get the impression that it's more push than pull - unless there's some very clever gadgetry inside his trunks! That would account for his strained expression, of course. 

Nevertheless, these two donors would be more than acceptable recruits to the factory line. I could see this man's torso getting a good deal of personal attention from the staff. 
Such is the fate of 'Mark' in the next video mini clip....
 
Mark 1 Extra (video clip)
 
In the clip above, the very muscular Mark is seen struggling with his restraints until one of his minders descends on him and distracts him by proceeding to worship his pulsating body. The characterisation of the captor for me is worth the watch, with mighty shoulders and giant arm muscles, he's bursting out of his tight, white vest/tank top (see below).

Mark also has a starring role in a longer, mini-epic (9 mins) with similar imagery, but darker content. It's a tougher watch, but the outcome has a surprise twist that's worth waiting for. 

 

Miloinvinculis - Electro 5

This handsome pair of hunks get starring roles in one of Milo's most ambitious projects to date. Their predicament is a great 'getting to know you' situation - even for military buddies. There's a lengthy clip which shows them torn between attempts to pull apart and lapses into mutual consolation. Their grim dance is conducted with visibly indrawn breaths, heaving chests, aborted kisses and (occasionally) pulsating briefs before a sort of consummation is finally realised. 

However, the dark side to this artist's work surfaces when it turns out that the buddies romancing is just one aspect to their predicament, as implied by the title and, less obviously, by the metallic briefs they are dressed in. Separate clips show them being interrupted every time they show desire, with graphic electrical effects, body convulsions and even their bulges making responses.

 


 The 'US Water Sports Team' video (above) is one of my favourites, a little gem with lurking menace. It makes a decent stab (by AI standards) at showing a swimmer being tied up. That's a process that conventional films usually pass over entirely or else show in excruciating detail, fumbles and all. 
 
Creating an AI image or video doesn't involve actors, but the AI engine can be just as much of a diva, with ideas and boundaries of its own that can only be circumvented by patient repetition or trickery.

The Third Sailor's Punishment


 The third of this series by miloivinculis shows the Pirate's inventiveness in keeping his crew in line, but it still falls well short of the practice of keel-hauling used by the Royal Navy.

Stephen's 'Golden Pasha'

 Stephen's 'Golden Pasha' dates from the nineteen sixties. It appears to be related in concept to, and a precursor to, the better known 'Sailors Beware' story, which came out in its first version shortly after 'Pasha', judging by the Kris Catalogue numbering.

The Kris Catalogue entry for 'Pasha' (replicated above) showed 6 images, with all the characters in them respectably 'draped'. Three of them were also published in a larger format in a different catalogue. This article features an uncensored version which I found on the Tim In Vermont website before it was taken down. It didn't give any source information. 

 The three 'big' earlier images are included in the article below in the appropriate places. Unlike the revised version of 'Sailor Beware', the underlying images don't seem to have been significantly altered other than replacing the loin-cloths and pouches with not quite erect organs. No sex is shown.  

 

Stephen's 'Golden Pasha' 1
 
The Golden Pasha lounges in luxury while around him a harem of conspicuously naked, young men entertain him with music, grovel and pamper him. Notice the phallic uprights of his throne.
 
Stephen was quite fond of depicting musicians at this time. I suppose there's a certain innuendo in the horn blowing and string plucking of long-necked instruments.
 
 
Stephen's 'Golden Pasha' 1 (original version)

This earlier version shows all the characters in exactly the same positions. The three on the right have acquired pouches which seem to be carefully detailed with patterns (and jewels in the Pasha's case). The covering of the guard at the doorway, however, seems to have been painted on rather clumsily by comparison. The Pasha's pantaloons have also been altered, extending all the way up to his waist rather than finishing high up on the thigh, like stockings.

The Pasha seems to be a hard master to serve. In the dungeon below, those who displease him are chained up, and he personally punishes each of them with his whip. His suspender belt is meticulously detailed and impressively jewelled. It's apparent that the 'Golden' tag relates to his wealth, not his sunny personality.

The Pasha's maltreatment of his slaves means he must watch them with an eagle eye for any signs of rebellion. But one slave at least has had enough. He has somehow procured a sleeping potion and secretly drugs the Pasha's wine. 

This picture almost seems to shift the scene to Japan, as witness the bonsai-like trees. The intricate decoration of the pillar on the left which includes a Fuji-like mountain, a stylised chrysanthemum and more typically Japanese style patterns in-between (plus an incongruous elephant, which is neither Arabian nor Japanese).

Some of Steve Masters' images around this time featured decorative detail like this. 

 

Stephen's 'Golden Pasha' 3 (original version)

This earlier version is little different. Again, the Pasha's pants have become thigh-wraps and his dick is covered by a jock-like, ribbed pouch (with a jewel encrusted top hem!). We can see more of the foreground, bottom left, which turns out to be a pool with fish and lilies. A show of his opulence.

 

Stephen's 'Golden Pasha' 4

Once the Pasha has fallen into a drugged sleep, his slaves rise up against him. Some have weapons, perhaps taken from the Palace Guards who seem to have deserted their master. Someone, at some point, has removed his pants and boots. As a result, the Pasha lies in a tempting, splayed legs position*. One of the rebels seems to be inviting everyone to have a go. 

*This is a favourite pose of Stephen's, it seems to turn up in many stories, twice in Night Patrol, in image 5 and image 8. The Pasha version is more convincing than some.

Stephen's 'Golden Pasha' 5

The Pasha awakes to find a knife menacing his chest and his treasure chest being looted. Perhaps more startlingly for him, his legs are in physical contact with the intimate regions of two of his slaves. One is resting between the buns of the looter. The other is raised between the legs of his immediate attacker, almost as if they had just had intercourse. Who knows? The threat of the knife seems to be equated with the threat of his dick. A choice to be made?

 

Stephen's 'Golden Pasha' 5 (original)

In the original version of image 5, pouches have sprouted once again, to conceal the less offensive weapons of the attackers.  The disappearance of the primary attacker's dick makes his knife seem a lot more menacing, although he's still deliberately angling it out from his groin. 

 The Pasha's modesty is protected by a casually draped cloth, looking a bit like leopard skin. Oddly enough, that device makes his nudity and vulnerability seem more apparent. His hairy legs, glimpsed in earlier pictures, come to the fore.

 All the slaves' faces have been upgraded in the nude version, in line with Stephen's later technique. In the original, we can see more of the architectural detail of the room, which adds greatly to the depth of the image. We can also see some subtle shading in the trees, which is probably washed out in the later version by the reproduction process.

Stephen's 'Golden Pasha' 6

In the final image, the Pasha himself is chained like a slave and forced to kneel, cringing in submission to his former slaves. He is stripped of his turban, the symbol of his rank, as well as the last vestiges of his clothing (except for one sock). He looks very naked now, and the raised position of his hands, behind his back, suggests he's desperately trying to free himself. Aware perhaps that he will soon make his first acquaintance with the business end of his own, vengeful whip in the dungeon. 
 
This is an interesting study of feet, which are less evident in the earlier pictures, but soon became Stephen's unique trademark. Perhaps the Pasha is being invited to address them with respectful lips. Their exaggerated size here creates a sense of powerful men and menace surrounding the cowed ruler. 
 
The intertwining of the feet with Stephen's signature seems to be deliberate, but it's unclear why, perhaps indicative of his personal fascination with them. I'm afraid it reminds me of sticky carpets in sleazy bars!
 
Stephen's 'Golden Pasha' 6 (original)

This cropped version comes from Drummer in 1976. It's interesting that that particular publication should decide to crop out the whip. It makes the Pasha seem cornered, rather than surrounded. Interesting too, that Drummer don't seem to have had the nude version at their disposal (unless, of course, they preferred the contrast and subtle power of nude vs clothed, i.e. CMNM). Either way, it's a tribute to the essence of domination in Stephen's drawing of this scene.
 
 
The Golden Pasha doesn't quite have the power of other Etienne stories. The draughtmanship is good quality, the sexuality subdued, but bubbling teasingly beneath the surface and between the frames. The Pasha's relationship with his harem/slaves seems to be strictly sadistic. It's they who seem to threaten him with sex as a punishment and humiliation. The simple morality of the story is a far cry from the aggressive sexual subjugations of Night Patrol, Marine Training and Here Comes the Groom to name just a few of Stephen's later creations. 
 
Perhaps that reflects the political changes of the 60s and the greater freedom of expression subsequently afforded to gay men.
