Art Inspired by 'Fallout 4' - 2 Punishment of a Paladin

Discipline is very strict amongst the Paladins who make up the Brotherhood of Steel,
This man, Paladin Danse, confessed to intimacy with a mutant, which is forbidden.
He's forced to don a punishment suit.

A spiked collar proclaims his new status - rejected, untouchable.
His empty armour suit symbolises what he has lost.

A former colleague steps forward to dispassionately arrest and escort him.
Even his friends don't recognise Danse now.

As his hunky colleague puts him in restraint, his hands brush Danse's backside
and the Punishment suit accentuates every touch.
Danse is led away feeling more naked than naked

In the close confinement of the suit and the emotional heat of the moment,
the organ that betrayed Danse with the mutants, does so again.

He's taken before the Leader to formally learn his fate.
Forced to grovel before him.

The Leader is regretful. Danse is - was - one of his best Paladins.
How could it have come to this?
Danse cannot explain now, his mouth is full of rubber.
His cock does the talking for him.

Out of respect for Danse's past service, The Leader drops down to his level,
Danse cannot see him, but senses he is there and looks up.

"You know what I must do", The Leader says and Danse nods, understanding.

The Leader bends him over and Danse shudders, for the touch is electrifying.
Without removing his mittens, The Leader begins to slap his bottom.
Slowly, but very firmly.
The pain is terrible it's but not as bad as the humiliation of being treated like a child
and the jeers and cheers of his colleagues, who don't remember he was their friend.

The final act of rejection comes when the leader strips off his uniform
and acting as a man not a soldier, he opens the Punishment Suit and uses him sexually.
Something that would never happen between the soldiers of The Brotherhood

The Brotherhood's punishment code dictates that Danse must now accept his demotion.
in the honourable way by gratifying The Leader voluntarily in front of the others.

The ritual draws to a close, his restraints are released now
and he thanks The Leader and demonstrates remorse in the traditional way.

Finally they release him from the suit and eject him from the compound with nothing.
Outside it's a grey day but thankfully radiation levels are low and it's not raining.

There's only one place where he can hope to find food and shelter.
He heads towards mutant territory.

Art inspired by Fallout 4 - 1 Bodywork

The artwork in this article was inspired by the computer game Fallout 4 which is set in a post-apocalyptic world. The game surrounds a survivor of the devastation in search of his abducted child and vengeance for a murdered wife. So far, so clichéd and oh so hetero, but the styling of the official game artwork (above and below) featuring blue, ass-revealing uniforms has inspired a great deal of homo-erotic fan art.

Another feature of the game which has driven much gay creativity was the Power Armour which could be used for especially difficult tasks and protection in hostile environments i.e. Fallout from the holocaust.

Naurdor - Bernard, The Engineer

Naurdor's splendid re-imagining of the armour here has a gloriously steam-punk feel, reflecting the fact that the only men still capable of servicing these monstrous gadgets are quirky, old-fashioned engineers like Bernard here.

SavrenX - Power Armour

This contribution by SavrenX demonstrates the sheer bulk of the outfit.
How can a man still look sexy in all that gear?
Note the sinister mist.

Iamnotavirgin - Power Armour 1

The bulky armour also inspired this more fanciful imagining from Iamnotavirgin.
His catwalk-style modelling pays tribute to the versatility of the armour's power system.

The breast plate here does not quite cover the warrior's pecs - admittedly they would need a lot of covering up - but it looks like his muscles are out-growing the armour. Maybe that's down to mutations wrought by the radiation and pollution (hinted at here by the pink sky).

We also discover (unsurprisingly) that it's sensible to wear as little clothing as possible underneath the armour.  Even in this bikini combo you can see he's sweating profusely. He's wisely retained the armoured jock plate and I'm sure the knee pads will come in useful too.

Iamnotavirgin - Power Armour 2

Seen from the rear the coverage is even more sparse,
The thong avoids VPL when he's in his tight blue uniform (see top picture).

.

SavrenX - Dwarfed by his Armour

SavrenX shows a man dwarfed by his armour.
The wry logo on it's breast plate pops up periodically in this art.
A black joke on the disaster that has befallen this world.

The under-armour gear is shown as a lightweight alternative - helmet and jock essentially,
plus the essential impedimenta of soldiering - harness, gun belt, gloves and boots.

Sit - Personal Protection

Both SavrenX (above) and Sit (here) show men wearing astronaut helmets.
They give protection from the sometimes poisonous nature of the atmosphere
evidenced here by a pea-souper hue.

Apparently bare skin offers adequate protection from the gloopy stuff on his arm,
It seems to permeate the air here and deposit itself on passers by.
Perhaps it's that substance that has eaten away his suit.

Sit - A Clear Day

If so it's been highly effective.
I've always thought Astronaut helmets look sexy.
Pairing them with a metal groin protector is inspired.

Even this world looks a better place on a clear day,
But walking to the pub must be pretty depressing.

Sit - An Evening in the Bar 1

But when you get there, this happens!
This world is populated by some very odd characters.

Sit - An Evening in the Bar 2

I'm not sure if this Military/Chippendale combination counts as mutation.
But there's something quite sinister about this character in his shades and peaked cap.

Sit - An Evening in the Bar 1

The reveal when he jettisons his jock does not dispel that strange feeling.
Submissive-Aggressive? Or just up front and open?
The gleaming highlights are quite clever.
Suggestive of magical properties.

These pictures were found on a Fallout 4 artists forum.

Royale Numbers & The Mystery Seller

Many of the Royale images in circulation today have numbers in their corners.
They have various formats, but what do they represent?

1. Numbers in White Boxes

Royale Studio - Catalogue Thumbnail Sheet for set 'W'
'

Numbers in bold characters which appear inside a white box in the bottom left corner are Royale's own numbers, used on their thumbnail sheets to show the sequence of the pictures and for customers to reference when ordering full size prints.

I've yet to identify the soldier seen undressing in front of a mirror and getting down to exercise in Catalogue 'W'. It's a fairly typical Royale set with a genuine service uniform paired with Royale's ultra tight shorts. The routine of getting different 'real' men to perform the same, slightly embarrassing, erotic ritual is part of the appeal of Royale Studio's work.

Royale Studio - Navy Gash 08

Thumbnail pictures often turn up on their own having been cropped from the full sheet,
sometimes apparently with scissors!

The example above is from 'Navy Gash'

2. Numbers Inside White Circles

Royale Sailor Punished in Shorts 2

A lot of other pictures have smaller numbers inside little circles in the bottom left corner.

This example is from Royale 01 'More Sailors in the Rigging

Clearly 401 isn't a sequence number within a set, they usually only comprised 16 - 24 pictures.

They can't be Royale's unique identification numbers either, the values are are too low for that. The ones I have only go up to 401 but Royale produced dozens of sets. There are 117 just in the Catalogue Sheets I have, representing something like 3000 pictures.

So what are these circled numbers?

The pictures in my possession which have them come from various different Royale sets, so to get to the bottom of this conundrum, I collected together them altogether. There were 45 in all, all good quality scans of original photographs. Straightaway I could see from the filenames that they all came from Sailor Al's 'Originals' collection which was controversially released to the internet some years ago.
(See footnote on Sailor Al in 'Sailors In The Rigging - 1b').

Pictures in beefcake magazines in Royale's time (1959-63) do not have these numbers,
although one turned up later. This points to an obvious answer, that these are simply the numbers
that a collector used to identify the photographs he owned.

~

The next question is: - Do these numbers tell us anything about the sets they belong to?

For example, in Royale 01 'More Sailors in the Rigging' there is another photo, seemingly from the same set as 401 shown above, it's numbered 391 (below). Does this mean there are 9 pictures between these two in the original set?

Royale Sailor Punished in Shorts 1

Well, no, because in the collected group,
I can see there are two pictures from other sets with numbers in-between 391 and 401,
including the one below, 394

Royale - Footballer Punished

Just this one example tells us that the numbering is not meaningful. So even where 'runs' of pictures that look connected can be identified (e.g. a run of four images numbered 331-334 in Royale 93 Sailors Caned) that doesn't tell us for sure that they appear in that sequence, nor that they are even in the same set.

It's possible they were numbered in the order of their acquisition. Then small groupings of related images would occur because collectors could choose which of  the more expensive, larger prints they wanted from the thumbnail sheets like 'W' above.

3. Numbers inside Black Boxes

There is a further small group of 6 pictures which have white numbers inside black boxes, always accompanied by a star. These too can be traced back to the 'Originals' collection

It looks as if these stars have come from a sticker sheet (notice how it overlaps the number). The numbers are probably stickers too (remember this is pre-computers!). The circled numbers just discussed are probably the same because the numbers on them slant at various angles. Perhaps sheets of numbered stickers were specially produced in those days for collectors of all sorts and I guess businesses would have a use for them too.

As it happens, the picture above (107) from 'Sailors in the Rigging' also exists with circle style numbering - and it's a different number, 279 (see below).

The existence of duplicate copies with different numbers suggests that they were originally from two different collections which ended up being merged to form the 'Originals'. These photos were considered to be porn and were publicly unsaleable through normal channels, so passing on complete collections to other, like-minded individuals was the only safe way of disposing of them. That was how collections came to be merged.

Sailor Al told me that he acquired most of his collection from a man who had worked with 'Guys in Uniform' Studio and had previously been connected with Royale. In fact the 'Originals' collection also includes a number of pictures from Guys in Uniform (given filenames with MIU numbers, for Men In Uniform). None of these, that I know of,  have numbers in their corners. It's a purely Royale phenomenon.

Given his background the original owner may not have bought them from Royale like a normal customer but acquired them through his job there or from another Royale worker. That might explain the large size of the collection. It's even possible he may have rescued them when Royale was raided which might bring us full circle back to the possibility that the numbers were put on by Royale, even though we can't see a rational basis for them doing so.

Royale Models photo in Bonham's Auction

Collecting all my numbered Royale pictures into one folder for this investigation threw up one completely unexpected result. I found some of them were duplicated by images I had acquired quite recently from the catalogue of a  sale of Basil Clavering pictures at Bonhams (Jun 2021). Five images reproduced in the Bonhams' listing had circled numbers in their corners and 3 of them duplicated images I already had (the one shown above was one I didn't have).

It seems this sale must have been of Sailor Al's 'Originals' collection.
The provenance Bonhams gave closely matches the story I had been told by him (see above).

The sale raised £22,000 for around 850 prints plus negatives etc. About a third of that amount was the buyer's premium (the auction house's commission). I don't know who the actual seller was in the end, but I hope the new owner of these pictures will share more of them with us all.

Royale Studio Models - David Reid (Updated 14th Nov '24)

1. David Reid solo - Royale Catalogue Entry

David Reid appeared in a number of Royale sets and storyettes. This image was his first, solo appearance, seemingly nude, oiled up and astonishingly muscular (with a touch of puppy fat). He's seated on Royale's famous military drum which appears in a number of Royale studio sets.

Royale Studios' Catalogue entry for DAR

1a David Reid by Royale

This image (added Jun 2022) is almost certainly from the DAR set.
It appeared in 'Tomorrows Man 7' magazine in 1959.

2. David Reid - Royale 02

It's possible that this image, which I found at Adonis Male, also comes from this early set with the black background. Although it's attributed to David, it's hard to authenticate it's identity in this quality. I do sense the hand of Royale's associate, Scott of London in the shapely pouch (if you know what I mean!). The chains add a tasty, feisty, fetish touch.

3

This image of David, is from Man Alive No 9 (April 1960)

This study of a dude cowboy from the autumn days of 'pouch art' looks rather ridiculous to modern eyes at first, but even from that perspective there's still a perverse sexiness in the manipulation of the model. David's youthful beauty and muscular build shine through the confusion. There's a somewhat leaner look about his face that's possibly connected to getting 'ripped' for a bodybuilding competition.

For all the oddness, there's erotic craft to admire in the well-stuffed pouch and the belt tightly cinched about his waist accentuating the model's tapered torso and screaming out that his jeans are missing. It's lightly suggestive of restraint, especially in combination with the whip.

The bandana tied round his neck has a similar, erotic ambiguity. It was a common, stylish accessory for TV cowboy stars of the time like Roy Rogers and Tex Ritter, but it also accentuates the sexiness of a stout neck when it's tied in a narrow strip - see Ty Hardin (in the middle) from the 'Bronco', TV show

4

This picture of David appeared in the following issue of Man Alive, No 10 (1960). It showcases his broad back and shapely buttocks but I'm not sure it's a very flattering pose overall (admittedly the slope of the magazine in this e-bay sales picture isn't helping).

The gun as an erotic device is something of a cliché and it's shadow seems to be in an odd place if it's meant to be erotic innuendo. Once again David's hair is a standout feature.

5

This image really does showcase David's lusciously upholstered torso.

From Body Beautiful 16 (1961)

6

Another image from the same 1961 outdoor shoot.

Tracking down images of David is complicated by the use of aliases.
He was labelled as John Dawe for this picture when it appeared in Trim Studio Quarterly 26 (1968).
It was part of a retrospective feature on Hussar Studio.

8

David fronted Body Beautiful 16 in 1964 looking a lot more mature in Tarzan-esque gear with yet another fetish accessory - rope. You can see him as a body-builder here rather than a suggestive porn model but I've yet to discover other pictures in this vein. It may be that he used a different name for his straight posing. This picture was taken by Davmel not Royale.

9

This is the best picture I have of David Reid and his luscious torso by a long way. It surfaced out of the blue in the Colville Exhibition of Royale Studio coloured masters in 2019. Royale lovers will recognise the wagon wheel from the closing scenes of 'Unapproved' but this image is not part of that storyette. The only other example I can recall of a Royale Studio model wearing cut-offs is Ian Oliver in another Colville coloured picture. The cowboy flavour is unusual for Royale too although it also occurs in another image of David Reid above.

This picture of him is the closest match I can offer to the slightly puzzling images of the Caned Sailors set, which is related to BULLIES (see below, Royale 04 in the mitchmen archive)

Art by Damo -3

This series is a tentacle saga that's a cut above the average. Starting with a nice physique, Damo develops a genuine sense of tight bondage gradually enveloping Eddie's body and completely restraining him. He also captures the mysterious presence of Venom within Eddie and asserting his hold over him in a way that is both seductive and forceful.

This cutie is yet another take on Eddie Brock by Damo,
this time he manages to make him look both butch and roguish
as befits his villainous role in the Spiderman stories.

Venom's tentacles curl around him poised to take control.
The symbiote lives inside Eddie and this image
creates the impression of an electrifying power within,
although Eddie himself has no super-powers.

As the web-like bindings tighten round his body
Eddie shows no reaction, but the effect is to
makes him look stronger and still in control.

Composure is replaced by annoyance as his arms are pulled behind his head,
It's a classic bodybuilder pose, but there's a real sense of strength restrained.

As his nipples are teased, Eddies cheeks to suffuse with redness
His cock and balls bulge from their tight restraints, he begins to leak.

When finally a gag seals his mouth
He looks impotent and angry
Watching his balls being divided.

When bobbly tentacle drives inside his cock shaft
Eddies eyes close in ecstasy
The oozing of fluid continues.

Eddie looks so cute and happy here!
Sexy in his mesh of tentacles
